Identifying an Occupation

Jobseekers can identify typical wages for various jobs using Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) data. Information is available state-wide and by county.

One way to identify in-demand or high demand jobs in Massachusetts is by using employment projections. Employment projections use current and historical data to project how various industries and occupations may grow or change overtime. “Labor Market Information 101” is a resource designed to help potential data users better understand and access labor market information (LMI) materials from the Massachusetts Department of Economic Research (DER). It covers these topics and more:

  • What DER is and who its stakeholders are
  • What LMI is, why it is important, and how it can be used
