Eligibility
Up to eight (8) award winners are selected for recognition every year, divided among two categories. Six (6) awards are presented in the Public Entity category and two (2) are awarded in the Individual category.
Public Entity Awards:
- MA State Entities: State agencies, authorities, public colleges and universities, and/or their individual departments or facilities
- MA Municipal Entities: Municipalities and/or individual municipal departments, municipal or regional public schools, public school districts, regional planning commissions or other regional public entities working with municipalities, and public purchasing cooperatives.
Individual Awards:
- Individuals employed by or volunteering for any of the above eligible entities
2023 LBE Awards Recipients
The 2023 LBE Award ceremony was held at the State House on Monday, December 4th, 2023. The event highlighted efforts of public entities to decarbonize their operations, electrify their fleets, promote sustainability efforts among staff, and engage the public in participating in clean energy and energy efficiency initiatives, to name a few. Awards were presented to:
- Massachusetts Water Resources Authority
- DCR Net Zero Task Force
- MassBay Community College
- Town of Windsor
- City of Lowell
- Hank Haff, Town of Needham
- Suzanne Wood, UMass Chan Medical School
- Hope Davis, DCAMM
