Nominations for the 2025 LBE Awards are closed.
Has your campus or agency adopted or expanded clean energy or sustainability initiatives over the last year? Or do you know an individual that has gone above and beyond in their clean energy or sustainability work? If so, they may be eligible for an LBE Award.
Award Categories and Eligibility
Leading by Example Award Categories
Up to six (6) award winners are selected for recognition each year, divided among three categories:
- Two (2) awards for the Public Entity category
- Two (2) awards for the Municipality category
- Two (2) awards for the Individual category
Eligible Entities for Nomination
- MA Public Entities: State agencies, authorities, public colleges and universities, and/or their individual departments or facilities
- MA Municipal Entities: Municipalities and/or individual municipal departments, municipal or regional public schools, public school districts, regional planning commissions or other regional public entities working with municipalities, and public purchasing cooperatives.
- MA Individuals: Individuals employed by or volunteering for any of the above eligible entities
2025 LBE Awards Recipients
The 2025 LBE Awards Ceremony was held at the State House on Tuesday, December 9th, 2025. Awards were presented to:
- University of Massachusetts, Lowell (UML)
- Pioneer Valley Transit Authority (PVTA)
- Town of Stow
- Wakefield Municipal Gas & Light Department
- Scott McCarthy, Fleet Manager, Department of Developmental Services (DDS)
- Victoria Masone, Energy Manager, Towns of Hamilton and Wenham
