Juvenile Court Probation Departments
Juvenile Court Probation Departments supervise children, adolescents, and young adults involved in delinquent, youthful, and status-offending behavior. Juvenile probation officers also monitor the well-being of children who are before the Juvenile Court as subjects of parental abuse and neglect.
Probate and Family Court Probation Departments
Probate and Family Court Probation Departments have jurisdiction over family matters, such as:
- Divorce
- Paternity
- Child support
- Custody
- Visitation
- Adoption
- Termination of parental rights
- Abuse prevention orders
Probation and Family Court probation officers:
- Investigate custody issues
- Resolve conflicts about visitation and enforce child support court orders
- Conduct drug testing
- Supervise job search activities
Office of Community Corrections (OCC)
The OCC is a division of the MPS. There are 16 Community Corrections Centers. The centers offer structured treatment and services throughout the day to support positive behavior change, and serve as an alternative to incarceration. The OCC manages the Trial Court Community Service Program. The Massachusetts Trial Court Community Service Program offers court-involved people an opportunity to complete court ordered community service hours. Community service participants are supervised by probation staff at various locations around the state.
Electronic Monitoring Center (ELMO)
ELMO is responsible for monitoring people with court-ordered GPS and/or remote alcohol monitoring. The Center actively monitors these people 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with a thorough process to immediately respond to compliance issues.
