Description

Learned Pond is a 34-acre Great Pond located half a mile north of the city center. This area of Framingham is heavily developed with residential houses and some industry on the southwestern shore. Learned Park and beach provides excellent access to the water with forested shores, picnic tables and benches. 

Recreational access

The city of Framingham manages Learned Park and Beach which features a 50 car parking lot, beach and wooded picnic area with shore access (get directions). The parking area is gated outside the swim season at which point a beach pass is required to park, although street parking is available throughout the year. There is also a gravel boat ramp just outside the gate at the end of Shawmut Terrace Road suitable for cartop boats. No launching boats or fishing from the beach but shore fishing is possible from Merriam Woods which is south of the beach and has several established fishing spots. Please contact the city of Framingham for additional information, fee schedules, and/or restrictions pertaining to public access of Learned Pond.

Fishing

Learned Pond has produced black crappie that meet minimum sizes for recognition by the Freshwater Sportfishing Awards Program.
