Licensing Requirements: Adviser - Individual
The requirements for advisers are governed by M.G.L. c. 175 §177A and §177B. To become an insurance adviser in the Commonwealth, applicants must meet the following requirements:
  1. The applicant is at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  2. No insurance license issued to the applicant has ever been revoked or suspended.
  3. The applicant is trustworthy and competent.
  4. An original passing score report provided by the testing vendor.
  5. A written contract describing advising services. Written contract must be in the licensee's name printed on licensee's adviser's license.  An individual adviser may not use his/her employer's adviser's contract name. Contract information can be found here: Adviser Contract Information
  6. A complete and accurate adviser application submitted through NIPR.com with the fee of $200.00. Please note the fee is non-refundable.
