Massachusetts Cancer Data - Interactive City and Town

This page presents data on cancer incidence (new cases) in Massachusetts cities and towns, provided by the Massachusetts Cancer Registry (MACR).

The MACR has recently released five new years of cancer incidence data for 2016-2020. These data, at the city and town level, are presented in an interactive online dashboard created through collaboration with the Bureau of Climate and Environmental Health.

The new dashboard provides the number of observed and expected diagnoses for 24 cancer types and all invasive cancers along with Standardized Incidence Ratios (SIRs) and measures of statistical significance and stability for each of the cities and towns in Massachusetts. This dashboard contains the same data as the city and town supplement reports but provides graphical representation of the data. The dashboard includes the ability to visualize trends for any consecutive 5-year period between 2000-2020. The 2016-2020 data were collected as of June 1, 2024.

Dashboard may take up to one minute to load.

You may also open the dashboard in full view.

As of 2025, the MACR will no longer produce new city and town hard copy reports. Instead, new data will be updated in the interactive data dashboard. Reports were not produced for 2012-2016, 2013-2017, 2014-2018, and 2015-2019. Those years are available on the dashboard, however. Older reports from 1982 to 2008 can be requested at macancerregistry@mass.gov
