The Technical Services unit prequalifies products and performs new product evaluations. The unit also maintains the Qualified Construction Materials List (QCML).

Product Evaluation

The unit prequalifies products and performs new product evaluations. This includes the research and development of evaluation criteria for product categories not yet utilized by MassDOT. Product evaluations may include the review of:

• Manufacturer
• Independent laboratory
• AASHTO Product Evaluation & Audit Solutions data

Through a cooperative effort with the Laboratory, Field Control, and QA units, the Technical Services unit reviews, tests, and incorporates new products into projects.

QCML

The unit maintains the Qualified Construction Materials List (QCML). This is a published list of all prequalified products approved for use on MassDOT construction projects.
