A Victorian Gothic structure built in 1876, the building has had a varied history. Initially it functioned as a train depot, but it was also used for almost forty years as a theater (the Rialto), before becoming a bowling alley, and finally, office and retail space. After sitting vacant for years, it was purchased by the Park Service and transferred to the Federal government prior to being sold to Middlesex Community College.
Located at an important gateway to the City, the building will house the College’s Theater, Music and Dance departments, reenergizing the downtown and bringing new life to the long-vacant landmark building.
