Placing an active duty alert on your credit file

If you are on active military duty, you should place an active duty alert on your credit file

An active duty alert on your credit file will require businesses to take extra steps before allowing anyone to open new lines of credit in your name. Active duty alerts last for one year and can be renewed dury your deployment.

To place an active duty alert, contact one of credit reporting agencies. That agency will then notify the others.
