Catch Sail Boston 2026's Parade of Sail from Spectacle Island
On Saturday, July 11, catch Sail Boston 2026's Parade of Sail from Spectacle Island, with open lawns, sea breezes, and one of the best views in the harbor. In partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, MBTA, National Parks of Boston, Boston Harbor Now, and Boston Harbor City Cruises, special ferry service will run from Hingham to Spectacle Island for the day to provide park access and public viewing of this historic harbor event. NOTE: Ferry Tickets to Spectacle on July 11 are sold out.
Ferry Ticket Holders: Things to Know Before You Go
- Spectacle Island will operate as an enhanced security area with visitor screening prior to entry. All bags are subject to search. Guests are subject to safety checks at departure points.
- Visitor security screening checkpoints will be located at the Hingham terminal prior to ferry boarding. Visitors who complete screening before boarding the ferry will not need to undergo an additional screening upon arrival at the island. Private boaters accessing the island will be directed to the Spectacle pier for screening before entering the island.
- Drop-off and pick-up access will still be available at the ferry dock, and security check-in on the pier will remain in place. Visitors using moorings, dinghies, kayaks, or other small watercrafts may pull up north of the swimming area. All visitors arriving by water will be directed to a security checkpoint before accessing the island.
- All visitors arriving to Spectacle Island will be required to proceed through the security checkpoint.
- Prohibited items include backpacks, other large bags, coolers on wheels, firearms, weapons, sharp objects, fireworks, pop-up tents or canopies, glad containers, pre-mixed beverages, alcoholic beverages, wagons or pull carts, drones, pets (excluding certified service animals), grills, propane tanks or open flames, bicycles and electric scooters.
- Allowed items include small clutch purses/bags that are easily searchable, shoulder strap or single handle coolers, folding/beach chairs, umbrellas, baby strollers, diaper bags that are easily searchable, glass baby bottles, selfie sticks, and blankets or tarps (no larger than 10’ x 10’).
- Spectacle Island Visitor Center will be open, with restrooms. Additional portable restrooms will be set up near the viewing area at the North Drumlin.
- Stay hydrated. There are public water fountains.
- The concession stand will be open throughout the day. Zaz, the concessionaire, will be offering a limited menu, along with water and soft drinks. Alcohol will not be served and is prohibited on the island.
- Lifeguards will be on duty at Spectacle Island in the designated swimming area.
- Follow sun safety guidelines. There are limited shade and shelter on the island. Visitors should bring sun protection. See above for allowed and prohibited items.

- Grills, Propane Tanks or Open Flames

All bags will be subject to search. There will be no storage of bags on site.
