The Board of Bar Examiners: The Board of Bar Examiners (the “Board”) was established by G.L. c. 221, §§35 & 36 to evaluate the acquirements and qualifications, including eligibility relative to character and fitness, of persons seeking admission to the Massachusetts bar. The Board evaluates each bar applicant to determine whether they “…(e)mbody that degree of honesty, integrity, and discretion that the public and members of the bench and bar have the right to demand of a lawyer.” Board of Bar Examiners Rule V.
Job Opportunities
The Board of Bar Examiners is seeking a Staff Attorney with primary responsibility for the evaluation of the qualifications of applicants for admission to the Massachusetts bar relative to their character and fitness. Requirements for the position include a juris doctor degree from an ABA approved law school or law school authorized by Massachusetts statute; Admission in Good Standing to the Massachusetts bar; and a minimum of five years of experience in the active practice of law. Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, and experience in conducting background investigations preferred.
