What's new?
- In March 2026, crews will begin drainage pipe installation on Route 27, north of the interchange, and resume retaining wall construction along the eastbound Route 9 off-ramp and southbound Route 27. Work schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change based on conditions.
- Utility pole work and utility relocations will continue along Route 9 within the project limits, between Linden Street and the Cochituate Rail Trail, and at the Route 27 interchange.
- The map below shows the locations of planned work in March. This map is for illustrative purposes only and depicts general work areas and locations.

Work schedules and hours are subject to change in the event of inclement weather.
Typical Work Hours and Days:
- Retaining Wall Construction, Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Drainage Pipe Installation, Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM and Sunday – Thursday 9:00 PM – 5:00 AM
- Eversource Electric, Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Other Utility Companies, Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Route 9
Eversource Electric Installation
- Eversource Electric work will continue during March with the installation of utility poles and relocation of overhead wires along the eastbound and westbound sides of Route 9. This work is anticipated on weekdays, Monday-Friday, and will be performed with breakdown lane closures.
Overhead to Underground Utility Relocation
- At the interchange with Route 27, multiple utility companies will be relocating their overhead wires to the underground duct bank within the south infield areas, anticipated on weekdays, Monday-Friday.
Route 27
Drainage Pipe Installation
- Drainage pipe installation on northbound Route 27 between Route 9 and Rutledge Road will begin in late March and is expected to continue through Fall 2026. This work will be scheduled during weekday and weeknight work hours, with lane shifts expected on northbound Route 27. Two traffic lanes will be maintained at all times.
Retaining Wall Construction
- Retaining wall construction at 190 North Main Street, along the eastbound Route 9 off-ramp and southbound Route 27, will resume in late March and is expected to continue through Summer 2026. This work is scheduled to take place in an established off-road work zone during daytime work hours.
Overhead to Underground Utility Relocation
- To facilitate the overhead to underground utility work, intermittent lane closures are anticipated on Route 27 around the interchange with Route 9.
Travel impacts
- Breakdown lane closures along Route 9 will be in effect daily, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday – Friday.
- Drivers should pay attention to all signage and move carefully through the work zone. Police details, lane markings, temporary barriers, traffic cones, signage, and other tools will be used to control traffic and maintain safe work zones
