- The contractor is scheduled to resume water pipe replacement on Dickinson Street and electrical conduit work on Sumner Avenue adjacent to Forest Park, as part of the Springfield 'X' Intersection Reconstruction project.
- Activities will include asphalt removal, excavation, trenching, utility installation, material deliveries, exporting material, staging of construction equipment, and asphalt restoration.

Why is this work happening?
- This work is being performed in advance of roadway construction on Sumner Avenue, Dickinson Street, and Belmont Avenue.
When is this work happening?
- This work is anticipated to start on Monday, March 23, 2026, and continue through the spring of 2026.
- Work is scheduled on weekdays, Monday through Friday, with daytime hours from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and intermittent overnight work from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
Where is this work happening?
- This work is anticipated to take place on:
- Dickinson Street between Burlington Street and Trenton Street
- Sumner Avenue adjacent to Forest Park
What to expect?
- Water service interruptions for individual properties are expected on Dickinson Street. Notifications for specific properties, dates, and times will be provided in coordination with the Springfield Water and Sewer Commission. More information regarding water service is available at waterandsewer.org or by contacting the Commission at (413) 310-3501 or cfs@waterandsewer.org.
- These operations will require temporary weekday closures on Dickinson Street during work hours as needed. Local access for residents, businesses, and emergency services will be maintained.
- On-street parking restrictions are expected during work hours due to site safety and staging of equipment.
- Police details and appropriate signage will be deployed to assist traffic flow around the work zones.
