For projects that qualify, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is implementing Nationwide Permits (NWPs) authorizations under Section 10 (covering structures or work in or affecting navigable waters of the United States) and Section 404 (covering discharges of dredged or fill material into the waters of the United States). Through federal consistency review, the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management (CZM) reviews these projects to ensure they meet state standards. Below are brief descriptions of the Review Status designations.
Completeness Review: CZM is reviewing the completeness of the submission. CZM must notify the proponent if the submission is complete or if additional information is required by the Submission Completeness Deadline.
Additional Information Requested: CZM has requested additional information from the proponent to deem the submission complete.
In Review: CZM has determined that the submission is complete and is reviewing the project for consistency with CZM policy. CZM comments on the project must be provided to the project proponent by the Comment Deadline.
Comments Submitted: CZM has reviewed the submission and has provided comments for the proponent to address before CZM may issue a decision on the project.
Comment Review: CZM is reviewing the project proponent’s response to CZM comments.
Complete: CZM has completed review and has issued a federal consistency review decision.
