Veterans Treatment Courts

A court-supervised, treatment-focused collaborative for court-involved individuals who have a history of military service.

Veterans Treatment Courts are designed to handle criminal cases involving defendants who have a history of military service through a coordinated effort between the veteran services delivery system, community-based providers, and the court. The sessions aim to improve public safety while dealing with the underlying issues of posttraumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, substance use disorder, mental illness and military sexual trauma. Treatment for substance use disorders and mental health conditions, swift accountability, and weekly interaction with the court are requirements of the Veterans Treatment Courts.

The following is a list of Veterans Treatment Courts locations. If you have a case in a court where there is no Veterans Treatment Court, it may be an option to transfer your case to a location with a recovery/drug court. If you are considering whether a Veterans Treatment Court is the right option for you, start by talking with your attorney or probation officer.
