Description
Lake Winthrop is a 137-acre Great Pond which is located about one-half mile south of Holliston Center. Lake Winthrop has an average depth of 6 feet, a maximum depth of 24 feet and aquatic vegetation is abundant particularly in the northern end of the Lake which is shallow.
Recreational access
The town of Holliston manages a paved boat ramp suitable for trailered craft at the end of Pleasure Point Road (get directions). No motors are allowed and a town beach sticker is required to park during the swimming season. A second car top boat launch and parking area is accessible off of Cabot Road on the east shore next to Stoddard Park (get directions). Parking is limited to about 5 vehicles; no parking sticker is required. Shore fishing is possible at both access locations on town and state owned land. Fish populations
The following fish species were found during MassWildlife surveys:
- largemouth bass
- chain pickerel
- yellow perch
- white perch
- black crappie
- bluegill
- pumpkinseed
- brown bullhead
- golden shiner
Fishing
Lake Winthrop has produced largemouth bass and chain pickerel that meet minimum size for recognition by the Freshwater Sportfishing Awards Program.
