Federal Programs

Space-A Travel Registration (Includes DODI reference for eligibility & sign-up form) 
Air Mobility Command provides certain eligible veterans with the opportunity for low cost travel. 

Veterans Transportation Program (VTP) 

The VA’s VTP offers Veterans many travel solutions to and from their VA health care facilities. This program offers these services at little or no costs to eligible Veterans through Beneficiary Travel (BT), Veterans Transportation Service (VTS) and Highly Rural Transportation Grants (HRTG).

VA Travel Pay Reimbursement 

VA travel pay reimbursement pays eligible Veterans and caregivers back for mileage and other travel expenses to and from approved health care appointments.

Transportation options in Massachusetts

Learn about how to find transportation services for older adults, people with disabilities, veterans, commuters, and others in your community. If you receive services from a state agency, ask your agency contact person if there are any transportation services you qualify for through that agency.

Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) 

The MBTA offers public transportation via subway, bus, commuter rail, ferry and paratransit (The Ride). The MBTA offers reduced fares for children 11 and younger, legally blind individuals, uniformed military personnel, police and firefighters and government officials.

The Transportation Access Pass (TAP) is also available for people with disabilities and Medicare cardholders. The Senior CharlieCard is for individuals age 65 and older. The MBTA also offers a Student Pass Program for some middle and high school students as well as a Youth Pass for people aged 18-25 that may be income eligible.

Vehicles for Veterans 

Car Donation Foundation d/b/a Vehicles For Veterans is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit vehicle donation program dedicated to providing funding that will help to build better lives for all of our nation's veterans and their families.

Non-Profit

Disabled American Veterans Medical Transportation 

Use the DAV Hospital Service Coordinator Directory to contact your nearest HSC for information or assistance. DAV operates a fleet of vehicles around the country to provide free transportation to VA medical facilities for injured and ill veterans.

Second Chance Cars 

A Massachusetts 501c3 corporation that provides refurbished, affordable used cars to Eastern Massachusetts’ low-income folks who need them to get to work but cannot afford them. Our recipients are primarily veterans, returning citizens and single parents as well as refugees and healthcare workers. Our cars allow their owners a chance to get, keep or grow a living-wage job and the possibility of achieving their full potential.
