MassDOT’s Municipal Planning and Support Group’s mission is to connect municipalities with federal funding opportunities to advance local and regional transportation needs. This includes but is not limited to supporting communities as they compete for the historic levels of federal funding available from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), and other legislation. The group also provides technical assistance to Massachusetts communities, with a focus on rural areas and Gateway Cities, to prepare projects for grant funding, develop grant applications, and assist with coordination efforts across MassDOT and our partner agencies.
