MassDOT Welder Certification

MassDOT certifies field welders to work on bridges and other highway projects.

Sample front and back MassDOT Welder Qualification Certificate. The left side shows the front of the card where you add the welder's name, certificate number and the Metals control Engineer's signature. The right side shows the back side with the welder's work record.

The MassDOT "green card" is a green paper certificate for the purpose of showing that a welder has been certified in a specific welding process and position for on-site field welding on a MassDOT bridge.

Experienced welders must possess the Massachusetts Department of Transportation’s Welder Qualification Test Record and the MassDOT Welder Qualification Certificate, the “green card.” The welder must be certified in welding process, position, and material to be welded.

This website outlines the process of becoming certified and maintaining that certification.

HELPFUL HINT: It is strongly recommended that you take a picture of your green card, front and back, after each signature in case of loss or theft
