Boston — State Auditor Suzanne M. Bump recently appointed Tim Kunzier of Brookline to serve on the Personal Care Attendant Workforce Council (PCA Council). Kunzier was sworn in by Bump during a ceremony at her State House office.
The PCA Council provides information and support for PCA consumers to hire, train and recruit PCAs. PCAs help people with disabilities, seniors, and others maintain their independence by assisting them with activities of daily living. Kunzier, who is replacing Paul Spooner of Taunton, will serve on the PCA Council for a three year term, after which he will be eligible for reappointment.
Kunzier, a former Developmental Disabilities Council member and Gopen Fellow at the Institute for Community Inclusion, is a recipient of personal care attendant services. From 2000 to 2010, he served on the board for the Boston Center for Independent Living, Inc. He earned a master’s degree in education, disability, health, and leisure from Boston University in 2000, and a bachelor’s degree in political science and government from Ramapo College of New Jersey in 1996.
Formed in 2008, the PCA Council is charged with ensuring the quality of long-term, in-home, personal care and is established within the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. The Council consists of nine appointed members, including three by the State Auditor.
Auditor Bump also recently reappointed Chris Hoeh and Cindy Purcell to the PCA Council.
