News  Commissioner John Oliveira awarded the 2025 Paul McDade “Focus” Award for Distinguished Leadership

October 8, 2025 | Boston, MA — The Massachusetts Commission for the Blind (MCB) is proud to announce that Commissioner John Oliveira has been awarded the 2025 Paul McDade “Focus” Award for Distinguished Leadership at the 17th Annual "Focus" on Vision Impairment & Blindness Conference held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

This award honors the legacy of Paul McDade, a pioneer in Orientation & Mobility services, and recognizes leaders whose advocacy and dedication have transformed services for individuals with intellectual disability who also experience vision impairment, blindness, or deafblindness.

Commissioner Oliveira’s leadership has strengthened programs, expanded access to critical resources, and built lasting partnerships that empower individuals and families across Massachusetts.
