A Proclamation
Whereas, Massachusetts is highly accomplished, respected, and well-known for its services to DeafBlind youth and adults; and
Whereas, It is important to celebrate the abilities and potential of fellow citizens who are DeafBlind, or severely visually and hearing impaired, and to recognize them as an example of courage, hope, determination, and achievement; and
Whereas, We encourage the citizens of the Commonwealth to promote education, employment, residential, and recreational options for people who are DeafBlind, thus maximizing their opportunities for a productive life in the community and lifestyle of their choice,
Now, Therefore, I, Maura T. Healey, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do herby proclaim June 25 to July 1, 2023, to be,
DeafBlind Awareness Week
And urge all the citizen of the Commonwealth to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance.
Given at the Executive Chamber in Boston, this first day of June, in the year two thousand and twenty-three, and of the Independence of the United States of America , the two hundred and forty-sixth.
