Boston — Governor Maura Healey today announced that her administration is directing full SNAP benefits to be paid and expects recipients to start receiving their delayed benefits as early as tomorrow.

This announcement follows a federal judge ordering President Donald Trump to release full SNAP benefits, after he became the first President in American history to choose not to fund SNAP during a federal government shutdown. SNAP recipients who have missed a payment should start seeing benefits on their cards beginning tomorrow. Recipients who have not yet missed their payment will receive their benefits on their typical date.

“President Trump should never have put the American people in this position. Families shouldn’t have had to go hungry because their President chose to put politics over their lives,” said Governor Healey. “We are now getting these benefits out to families who desperately need them. I am grateful to the people across Massachusetts who continue to step up and help their neighbors in this time of need. I also want to thank Attorney General Campbell for going to court to oppose this unprecedented, illegal decision. And I want to thank our team at the Department of Transitional Assistance for working through these challenging circumstances and maintaining their focus on serving the people of Massachusetts."

The Trump Administration has appealed Thursday’s court ruling. The Department of Transitional Assistance will continue to monitor for impacts of that appeal and provide updates to SNAP recipients.
