Ilyse Wolberg, DCR Deputy Communications Director

Boston — The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) today announced that reservations for camping at parks across the state will open to the public on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 9 a.m. Reservations are available for campsites at one of DCR’s 25 campgrounds beginning in April and running through October.

“Camping in our DCR parks is one way that we encourage residents and families to explore and enjoy our amazing natural resources,” said DCR Commissioner Brian Arrigo. “We know that spending time in the fresh air and outdoor spaces is vital to our overall wellbeing. We look forward to welcoming back seasoned campers and introducing new ones to the beauty of our parks.”

Before booking, it is important to note the updated information for the 2025 camping season:

  • Reservations can be made up to four months in advance of your arrival date. For example, if campers plan to arrive on August 12, 2025, the earliest they can book a reservation is April 12, 2025.
  • DCR has streamlined the reservation process, but campers should fill in all necessary fields when booking to ensure a smooth check-in upon arrival.
  • Fans of camping at Mt. Greylock and Washburn Island should note that reservations for these locations may not be available immediately. Stay tuned for updates or email dcr.campinginfo@mass.gov for more information.
  • While walk-in camping is not available, same-day reservations can still be made until 2 p.m. EST through ReserveAmerica.
  • DCR allows up to four pets per campsite, however, they must be leashed and have rabies certificates. Pets are not allowed in cabins, yurts or on beaches.
  • Visitors are not allowed at campsites during the 2025 season; however, day-use areas are available for gatherings and outdoor activities.

Interested campers can find a DCR campsite by visiting DCR’s camping webpage. DCR’s campsites vary in what they offer, from showers to flush toilets to R.V. sites offering electric and water hook-ups. Campers can also try camping in yurts at Myles Standish State Forest, Nickerson State Park, October Mountain State Forest, Otter River State Forest, Shawme Crowell State Forest, Wells State Park or Willard Brook State Forest, or in cabins at Mohawk Trail State Forest or Savoy Mountain State Forest. Once the ferry schedule is set for the Boston Harbor Islands, visitors can make reservations to camp at Peddocks Island.

Last season, DCR welcomed more than 50,000 camping reservations at DCR parks across the state. For more information and questions about the 2025 camping season, visit the agency’s website or email dcr.campinginfo@mass.gov.
