- Board of Certification of Community Health Workers
Dear Certified Community Health Worker,
We are pleased to announce that you are now authorized to sign your name with the designation “CCHW” to officially represent your status as a certified community health worker. This is due to your certification as a community health worker (CHW) under the 272 CMR regulation.
As outlined in Regulation 3.01: Privileges Conferred by Certification, certification as a community health worker under 272 CMR grants you the right to:
- Use the title, letters, or abbreviations (such as "CCHW") as approved by the Board of Certification of Community Health Workers (the Board) to represent your certified status.
- Present yourself as a certified community health worker, only if you hold a current certification issued by the Board as per 272 CMR 4.00: Certification as a Community Health Worker.
Please be reminded that only individuals with a current, valid certification issued by the Board are authorized to use the title "CCHW". Any use of the certification title or letters without proper certification is not permitted.
This recognition reflects your dedication and expertise and the vital role you play in promoting community health. This title allows you to be clearly recognized for the important work you do. We encourage you to use your new designation in your professional communication and documentation.
If you have any questions or need further clarification regarding the use of the "CCHW" designation, please feel free to reach out to the Board of Registration of Community Health Workers at multiboard.admin@mass.gov or the Office of Community Health Workers at chwinfo@massmail.state.ma.us.
Thank you for your continued commitment to supporting and improving the health of our communities.
