At age 14, Jade was diagnosed with pseudotumor cerebri, a condition that led to vision loss and significantly shaped her journey. MCB has supported Jade every step of the way, helping her pursue her education and launch her career.
With MCB’s assistance, Jade received tuition support, technology, books, and magnifiers throughout her undergraduate and graduate studies, ultimately earning her Master’s in Social Work from Howard University. After graduation, MCB continued to provide career support, connecting her with resources and assisting with her job search.
Jade credits her case manager as being especially helpful, guiding her through job applications and serving as a constant point of contact. Today, she works full time as an Adjustment Counselor at the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (MABVI), where she helps others adapt to vision loss. “MCB’s support made a huge difference in getting me to where I am today in my career,” Jade says.
