The Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ application for the federal fiscal year 2022 funds for the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program (SLCGP) has been approved. The $1 billion grant program was established in the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act that Congress passed in 2021 to provide much-needed funding to strengthen municipal cybersecurity capabilities.

As a condition of these federal funds, the Office of Grants and Research (OGR) must submit a strategic plan that outlines the priorities for our state and local municipalities to be addressed with these funds. The Executive Office of Technology Services and Security, the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, and the MassCyberCenter are partnering on this joint initiative and have established a committee to develop a plan for how best to leverage these federal funds to assist the 351 cities and towns of the Commonwealth in strengthening their cybersecurity capabilities to best defend against cyber threats. The committee is chaired by the Chief Information Officer of the Commonwealth and is comprised of cybersecurity leaders from state government and municipal representatives from urban, suburban, and rural communities.

Information on how to apply for this grant program will be available at a later date. More details on the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program can be found on the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) cyber grants page
