- Board of Registration in Medicine
WAKEFIELD — At its meeting on October 9, 2025, the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine took disciplinary action against the medical licenses of Duane E. Dixon, M.D. and Thomas A. Fry, M.D.
The Board accepted Dr. Duane E. Dixon's resignation of his inchoate right to renew his medical license. Resignation is a disciplinary action that permanently removes a physician from the practice of medicine. Dr. Dixon was licensed to practice medicine in the Commonwealth from May 2, 1990 until his license lapsed on May 13, 2015.
The Board reprimanded Dr. Thomas A. Fry’s medical license after he agreed, in a Consent Order, that he failed to meet the standard of care in prescribing medication or failed to maintain medical records in his treatment of five patients. Dr. Fry was also ordered to successfully complete additional CME credits. Dr. Fry is board certified in Internal Medicine. He has been licensed in the Commonwealth since May 21, 2003, and is affiliated with Massachusetts General Hospital.
The Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine licenses more than 40,000 physicians, osteopaths and acupuncturists. The Board was created in 1894 to protect the public health and safety by setting standards for the practice of medicine and ensuring that doctors who practice in the Commonwealth are appropriately qualified and competent. The Board investigates complaints and determines sanctions. More information is available at www.mass.gov/massmedboard, or you may contact the Board at borimmedia@massmail.state.ma.us.
