WAKEFIELD — The Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine recently took disciplinary action against the medical licenses of Chantal F. Nouvellon, D.O., Demian G. Mousad, M.D., and Catherine M. Bauer, M.D.

In a Final Decision & Order, the Board revoked Dr. Chantal Nouvellon’s right to renew her medical license after finding that she had been found guilty, after a jury trial, of assaulting a police officer, vandalizing property, resisting arrest, and violating a harassment prevention order. In an earlier criminal case, Dr. Nouvellon had admitted to sufficient facts regarding firearms charges, including improper storage of a firearm. Dr. Nouvellon, a board certified psychiatrist, was licensed to practice medicine in Massachusetts from August 27, 1997 until her license was summarily suspended on October 24, 2024.

The Board reprimanded Dr. Demian G. Mousad’s license to practice medicine after he agreed, in a Consent Order, that he had failed to search the Massachusetts Prescription Awareness tool (MassPAT) on five occasions, as required by law, prior to issuing Schedule II prescriptions to a patient. After Dr. Mousad ceased providing medical or pharmaceutical care to this patient, he searched MassPAT on six occasions for no legitimate purpose. Such conduct undermines the public confidence in the integrity of the medical profession. Dr. Mousad, who has been licensed to practice medicine in the Commonwealth since November 28, 2001, was also fined $5000. Dr. Mousad is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.  He currently operates a solo practice in Worcester.

In another Consent Order, the Board imposed a fine of $500 on Dr. Catherine M. Bauer’s medical license after she acknowledged in a Consent Order that she had failed to check the MassPAT in 2025, as required by law, prior to issuing benzodiazepine prescriptions. The Consent Order identified several mitigating factors. Dr. Bauer, who specializes in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, was first licensed in the Commonwealth on June 29, 1984. She currently maintains a solo practice in Lexington.

The Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine licenses more than 50,000 physicians, osteopaths and acupuncturists.  The Board was created in 1894 to protect the public health and safety by setting standards for the practice of medicine and ensuring that doctors who practice in the Commonwealth are appropriately qualified and competent. The Board investigates complaints and determines sanctions. More information is available at www.mass.gov/massmedboard, or you may contact the Board at borimmediamassmail.state.ma.us.
