West Springfield — The Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR) is excited to welcome visitors from around the state and region to the Massachusetts State Exposition Building during this year’s Eastern States Exposition, better known as “The Big E.” The 2024 Big E will run from Friday, September 13 to Sunday, September 29.

“As the host state of the Eastern States Exposition, we’re proud to welcome people from all over Massachusetts and beyond to the Big E. The Massachusetts Building is more than just a feature – it's a vital showcase of our state’s rich agricultural heritage,” said Governor Maura Healey. “This building offers an immersive experience into the unique traditions, innovations, and character that define Massachusetts. It’s a must-visit for anyone wanting to truly understand and appreciate what makes our state stand out in New England.”

“The Massachusetts Building is a powerhouse for our local economy, highlighting small businesses from every corner of the state. From farm-fresh foods to handcrafted goods, it’s where the best of our communities that hail from all over the state come together to promote and sell their local products,” said Lieutenant. Governor Kim Driscoll. “We encourage everyone to visit the Massachusetts Building and experience the incredible range of products that showcase our vibrant economy and community spirit.”

The Massachusetts State Exposition Building, which opened in 1919, is the oldest of the six original statehouse replicas representing each New England state located along the Avenue of States. The mission of the Massachusetts State Exposition Building is to showcase Massachusetts agriculture, commerce, and tourism through informational, educational, promotional, and retail exhibits. During the Big E, the Massachusetts Building will be open for business and feature 38 vendors and exhibitors inside and around the building including local small businesses, agricultural commodity groups, commercial vendors, and state agencies.

“For over a century, the Massachusetts Building at the Big E has spotlighted the power of local agriculture,” said Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Rebecca Tepper. “Fairgoers experience the best that Massachusetts has to offer through exceptional food, beverages, and retail products, all rooted in our rich agricultural heritage. We are proud to support and elevate our local farmers and small businesses and the vital industries they represent.”

“The Big E is a powerful catalyst for economic activity in Massachusetts,” said Economic Development Secretary Yvonne Hao. “By showcasing our state’s diverse industries, products, and businesses, we are not only attracting visitors, but also fostering new partnerships and driving economic growth throughout the state.”

Visitors can expect to find a wide variety of food and products, including lobster rolls, Finnish pancakes, honey, maple syrup, candles, soaps, chocolates, jewelry, photography, dips, wine, sliders, and more. The backyard of the building will once again feature a rustic beer garden featuring craft beer sourced from local grain grown in Western Massachusetts.

This year, MDAR is excited to welcome seven new food and beverage vendors into the building, including Janik's Pierogi Café, MexiricoMoeshmallowsMrs. Moriconi's Ice CreamSweet Babu'sThe Bone Sauce, and Wise Mouth Teas. A complete listing of this year’s vendors can be found here.

"The Massachusetts Building offers visitors the opportunity to experience agriculture, tourism, arts, and the culture of our great state,” said MDAR Commissioner Ashley Randle. “Whether you enjoy clam chowder, Boston Crème pies, ice cream or want to shop for locally made artisanal quality goods, we encourage attendees to visit, eat, and shop at the best building on the Avenue of States!”

"The Big E is more than just an event; it’s a gateway to discovering the spirit of Massachusetts,” said Kate Fox, Executive Director at the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism. “From the ocean’s edge to vibrant fall foliage, immerse yourself in history, culture, sports, agriculture, and culinary delights.”
