BOSTON, MA — The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Office of the Clerk for the County of Suffolk has launched a website that archives and publishes online the decisions of the Supreme Judicial Court single justices.

“Since I became clerk in 1996, I have always endeavored to make the important work of the single justices of the Supreme Judicial Court more accessible and available. This latest project is not only meaningful because the bar and the public will benefit greatly by being able to publicly access these decisions, but also because it is my final innovation as my term as clerk draws to a close,” said Clerk Maura S. Doyle, the Supreme Judicial Court Clerk for the County of Suffolk.

The Office of the Clerk for the County of Suffolk manages all matters before the Court's single justice. The single justice session is that part of the court's business in which an associate justice essentially acts as a trial judge, as was the function of the first justices, or as an administrator of the court's supervisory power under G. L. c. 211, §3.

Searches may be conducted by docket number, involved party, decision date, SJC justice name, or keyword. Passwords are not required to access the decisions. The decisions currently available on the website are from 2019 through 2024. New decisions will be posted as they are issued. The webpage excludes fully impounded cases.

The SJC Clerk’s Office for the County of Suffolk will be continuing its efforts to digitally prepare decisions in older cases for future publication.
