The Board of Boiler Rules is a five-member board that promulgates regulations on boilers and pressure vessels 522 CMR for Massachusetts. The statutory authority for the board is M.G.L. C. 22 § 10. Effective October 18, 2019, the most recent changes to 522 CMR were approved and published.
Welded repairs and alterations to high pressure boilers must now be reported. Use NBIC Form R-1 to report this work. This work can only be done by an accredited repair technician (R Certificate holder). The work must conform to state law and the National Board Inspection Code.
Mechanical repairs and alterations to high pressure boilers must now be reported. Use Form BPV-022 to report this work. This work can only be done under the supervision of the engineer in charge. The work must conform to state law and the National Board Inspection Code.
