Eligibility requirements for Forensic Pathology Fellowship

For appointment to our fellowship program, you must meet the eligibility requirements of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

Eligibility requirements

 

Prior to your fellowship appointment, you must have one of the following:

  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in anatomic and clinical pathology

  • Successful completion of a RCPSC (Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada)-accredited residency in anatomic and clinical pathology or residency in anatomic pathology

  • Certification by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic pathology

What you should know about our program

  • The fellowship program is based at the Chief Medical Examiner headquarters in Boston's South End.

  • The curriculum includes:

    • Daily morning and afternoon case conferences

    • Grand rounds

    • Journal club

    • Attendance at a national conference

    • Formal rotations with Boston Police Department Crime Laboratory, Massachusetts State Police Post-Mortem Toxicology Laboratory, Forensic Anthropology, and Forensic Odontology

  • Fellowship positions have an annual salary of $82,000.

  • Other benefits include health insurance, 2 weeks’ vacation, and sick leave.
