About the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP)

SCSEP helps low-income, unemployed job seekers age 55 or older learn skills to land a new job. The training helps enrollees develop self-confidence and become more financially independent. SCSEP also teaches resume writing, technology skills, interviewing techniques, and other skills that may help with their job search and placement.

SCSEP provides on-the-job training and promotes financial well-being. SCSEP is funded by the U.S. Department of Labor and administered by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Aging & Independence

Eligibility

To be eligible for the SCSEP program you must be: 

  • Age 55 or older  
  • Unemployed  
  • Meet income requirements  
  • Live in an approved Massachusetts county

Income Limits - 2025

Income cannot be greater than 125% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) for family size. For example:

Participation in SCSEP will not affect SNAP and Federal Housing (including Senior Housing and Section 8 benefits).
