Downstream was initiated in 1999 as a twice yearly publication to foster communication on common land protection issues with property owners in the Quabbin Reservoir, Ware River, and Wachusett Reservoir watersheds that comprise the DCR/MWRA water supply watershed system. A new layout was introduced in 2005 to encompass a larger audience and a wider scope of topics. Downstream strives to present a range of informative features promoting responsible environmental practices, interesting topics on watershed management, and listings for family activities.
