To register to vote in Massachusetts you must be all of the following:
A U.S. Citizen
A Massachusetts resident
At least 18 years old on or before the next election
You can pre-register to vote at 16 years of age.
To vote in a future election you must register:
20 days before all primaries and elections; and/or
10 days before a special town meeting
When you register to vote at the RMV, you may select a political party or designation. For the most up to date list, visit the directory or parties and designations at the Elections Division.
You should receive confirmation of your voter status within 2 to 3 weeks of your registration. If you have not received confirmation please contact your local election office.
