How Rapid Response works

If your business is facing workforce reductions, MassHire Rapid Response can help reduce the cost of layoffs and help support your employees. Rapid Response is available whether you're a small business or large corporation.

The Rapid Response process for employers

When we become aware of a layoff or closure, we will: 

  1. Reach out to company officials to schedule a meeting and establish a partnership; and 
  2. Provide comprehensive information about our available services; and 
  3. Collaborate with you to plan the implementation of these services at your organization. 

Services and next steps will be based on your specific operational needs.

Rapid Response after a disaster

MassHire Rapid Response can help you after disasters, including: 

  • Large-scale emergencies that affect multiple businesses 
  • Smaller emergencies that affect a single business 
  • Natural disasters such as tornadoes and floods 

We partner with local, state, and federal government offices, including the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to provide services when needed. 

Rapid Response support for employees

We also offer support for employees impacted by a layoff or closing, including: 

  • An introduction to services and support available at MassHire Career Centers 
  • Job-readiness workshops 
  • Guidance on unemployment eligibility and requirements 

  • Understanding affordable healthcare options 
  • One-on-one meetings to discuss individual needs, review resumes, conduct mock interviews, and more

Services for unionized workers

Union member employees receive additional support through the Massachusetts AFL-CIO Rapid Response Team, working in collaboration with the MassHire Rapid Response team.
