Springfield – bridge replacement, Armory Street over CSX Mainline and CSX abandoned line

MassDOT is replacing structurally deficient bridges carrying Armory Street over both active and abandoned CSX rail lines in Springfield.

Construction will begin in the fall of 2026 to replace two bridges in Springfield. The existing bridges remain safe but are reaching the end of their service life and must be replaced. Visit the traffic and construction updates link below for the most up-to-date project developments.
