More than 350 Massachusetts residents die each year as a result of a motor vehicle crash - including bicyclists and pedestrians. In addition, there are over 3,500 hospital stays and 70,000 emergency department visits of Massachusetts residents for nonfatal crash injuries every year.
The Injury Prevention and Control Program (IPCP) is committed to safeguarding the well-being of Massachusetts residents and visitors by promoting safe and responsible transportation practices. The Department of Public Health’s Transportation Safety Initiative works to educate and connect stakeholders, including the public, safety advocates and professionals, about safe driving, pedestrian, and bicycling practices.
