Transportation Safety

Learn how to reduce your risk on the road.

More than 350 Massachusetts residents die each year as a result of a motor vehicle crash - including bicyclists and pedestrians. In addition, there are over 3,500 hospital stays and 70,000 emergency department visits of Massachusetts residents for nonfatal crash injuries every year. The Department of Public Health’s Transportation Safety Initiative works to educate and connect stakeholders, including the public, safety advocates and professionals, about safe driving, pedestrian and bicycling practices.
