Public Meeting Notice Chickatawbut and Wampatuck Road Seasonal Pilot Closure Public Meeting 7/15/2026
Overview
The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is presenting on an upcoming seasonal pilot closure of Chickatawbut and Wampatuck Roads for weekends this summer, from July through early September. This effort is centered on conservation efforts in Blue Hills Reservation and public well-being and safety. DCR will be closing the roads to vehicle traffic from Friday evenings through Sunday evenings each weekend, while maintaining access for hikers, walkers, bikers, and emergency response vehicles throughout the closure period. The presentation will focus on the goals and logistics of the pilot closure, along with information critical for abutters and the public who frequent these roadways.
The public will be invited to provide comments during the meeting, after the presentation, by unmuting their microphones, or the chat functionality that will be available through the virtual participation platform. After the meeting, the presentation will be available for viewing on DCR’s Past events for DCR Public Meetings Information web page. DCR encourages the public to share additional feedback throughout the pilot program. Comments may be submitted via the DCR public comment portal. Please note that contact information required when commenting, notably email address, will only be used for outreach on future updates on the subject project or property.
If you have agency-related questions or concerns or would like to be added to an email list to receive DCR general or project-specific announcements, please email Mass.Parks@mass.gov or call 617-626-4973.
