Overview   of Community Policing and Behavioral Health Advisory Council (CPBHAC) Meeting

There will be a meeting of the Community Policing and Behavioral Health Advisory Council (CPBHC) on February 24, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m at 1 Ashburton Place, Boston, MA 02108 on the 10th Floor, Charles River Conference Room.

  3. Update on the Department of Mental Health’s  Center for Police Training in Crisis Intervention – Matthew Broderick
    • Center for Behavioral Health Police Training in Crisis Intervention Request for Responses (RFR). Issued January 24, 2020. Deadline for Responses, March 4, 2020 (See attached)
    • Budget
      • FY 2020 Update
      • FY 2021 House 2 recommendation
    • Staffing Update
  4. MPTC – DMH Collaboration – on-going efforts
    • Providing MPTC with rosters of participants in behavioral health classes approved/sponsored by DMH and delivered during the past 2 to 3 years; efforts to have data entered into Acadis
    • Use of MPTC portal and data base - Acadis - to track behavioral health classes approved/sponsored by DMH and taken by officers - Robert Ferullo and Shelia Gallagher

  5. MPTC Curriculum
    • Update on efforts to have DMH and DPH subject matter experts review and provide comments regarding behavioral health topics
      • Reviews by DMH and DPH Subject Matter Experts (SME)
      • MPTC considerations:
        • Amount of time allocated to various elements of New Recruit training, including BH topics
        • MPTC board input
    • Input from Advisory Council: utility of developing and implementing annual review process of all behavioral health training content delivered by MPTC, DMH and other sources
      • Development of recommendation for submission to Advisory Council at next meeting
        • Incorporating into annual work flows

  6. Discussion on Establishment of Sub-Committees: Advisory Council Member
    • Should the Advisory Council establish one or more sub-committees as a means of fulfilling its Legislative Mandate?
