Massachusetts Juvenile Justice System Data Trends Webinar

Overview

The Office of the Child Advocate (OCA) is hosting an open webinar on Tuesday April 12th from 1 to 2pm to present data on systems-level trends in our state's juvenile justice system from the state's Juvenile Justice Policy and Data Board's 2021 Annual Report, with a focus on:

  • The overall numbers of youth who came into contact with Massachusetts' juvenile justice system in 2021, and the types of alleged offenses they were accused of
  • Racial and ethnic disparities seen in the data
  • Multiyear trends and an analysis on the impact of the 2018 Criminal Justice Reform Act
  • The impact of COVID-19 on the juvenile justice system as seen in the data

OCA staff will also provide an update on the current work of the JJPAD Board, including the Board's work on juvenile diversion and the Child Requiring Assistance system. After the presentation, there will be time for questions.
