A Virtual Design Public Hearing will be hosted on the MassDOT website below to present the design for the proposed project at the following seven (7) locations:
- Chicopee – Route 116 at Meadow Street
- Worcester – Plantation Street at I-290 Eastbound off ramp and Worcester Housing Authority Driveway
- Billerica – Route 3A at Wyman Road and Webb Brook Road
- Salem - Route 107 at Swampscott Road and Dipietro Avenue
- Woburn – Route 3 at Revere Road
- North Attleborough – Routes 1 and 1A at Emerald Square Mall North Driveway
- Falmouth – Route 28A at Route 151 and County Road
Purpose:
The purpose of this hearing is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed project. All views and comments submitted in response to the hearing will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible.
Proposal:
The proposed project consists of upgrades at 7 locations for vulnerable road users at or near MassDOT owned traffic signals near bus stops in Districts 2, 3, 4, and 5 as listed above. Improvements will include some or all of the following: changes to traffic signal timing, phasing, coordination and detection; the addition or reconstruction of curb ramps and crosswalks; providing accessible pedestrian signal push buttons with countdown pedestrian signal heads; reconstruction of sidewalks connecting signalized intersections with bus stops; restricting right turns on red and minor geometric changes.
A secure right-of-way is necessary for this project. Acquisitions in fee and permanent or temporary easements may be required. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is responsible for acquiring all needed rights in private or public lands. MassDOT’s policy concerning land acquisitions will be presented in the hearing.
