VR helps people with disabilities pursue their work goals
Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) services help people with disabilities prepare for, secure, retain, advance in, or regain employment. The two agencies that provide VR services in Massachusetts are:
- the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind (MCB), serving people who are legally blind, and
- MassAbility, which serves people with other disabilities. MassAbility calls its VR program “Career Services.”
Once someone has been accepted into the VR program at one of these agencies, a VR Counselor will work with them to choose an employment goal, develop a plan, and connect with services that support their goal.
NOTE: This guide is currently under construction. If you have questions, please contact MOD.
The pages in this guide tell you about VR: what it is, who is eligible, how services should work, and what someone’s options are if they believe they are not being provided the services they need. You will find information about how to navigate issues independently, as well as how the Client Assistance Program (CAP) may be able to help.
