Submit separate applications and fees for each boiler, refrigeration system or pressure vessel to be installed and inspected.

  2. Inspection by State Engineer

After we receive your application and payment, we will notify you that the permit is approved. A state engineering inspector will arrange for an inspection.

  3. Getting a Certificate of Inspection

After the boiler, refrigeration system or pressure vessel has been inspected, you will be invoiced ($50) for the certificate of inspection.

You can pay this fee online at https://joportal.com/MA/Spa or send a check or money order to: Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Boiler Inspection Program, P.O. Box 417599, Boston, MA 02241-7599.

After we receive your payment, we will send you the certificate of inspection. It includes the Massachusetts tag number registering the boiler or pressure vessel.

Post the certificate near the boiler or pressure vessel.

  4. Periodic Inspections

Boilers and refrigerations systems must be inspected annually.

Pressure vessels must be inspected every 2 years.
