What you need for Apply for a New Auctioneer License

For your convenience, online applications are now available. Click here to start.

To be licensed as a Massachusetts Auctioneer, you will need the following:

  1. To register by completing a new online application
  2. A diploma or certificate from a certified auctioneer school. For more information on Auctioneer Certified Schools see below. 
  3. A $10,000 surety bond on the form approved by the Director of the Division of Standards. Click here to access the approved Bond Form. Please note, the BOND MUST BE COMPLETED AND SIGNED
  4. Two signed letters of recommendation from either a licensed auctioneer, an elected official, or a member of the Massachusetts bar. The two letters must be from different sources.
  5. A license fee of $100. Credit/debit cards and ACH payments accepted online. 

PLEASE NOTE: NON-COMPLETED OR SIGNED BONDS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. MAKE SURE TO UPLOAD ALL OF THE REQUIREMENTS TO EXPEDITE THE APPROVAL PROCESS.

We only accept payment by money order or check (personal, business or bank check). Make checks payable to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

We do not accept any other form of payment including cash and credit/debit cards.
