To avoid a fee, you must cancel your road test at least 72 hours before it is scheduled.

If you do not cancel your road test within 72 hours, you will be charged a $35.00 road test fee.

How to cancel   Cancel your scheduled road test

The easiest and quickest way to cancel your road test is online. You will need to provide your:

  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • Social Security Number (SSN)
  • Learner's permit number

Cancelled road tests

Road tests will be cancelled if the Governor declares a state of emergency for the entire state or for the region where your road test will take place. If your road test is cancelled, an alert will be posted online on the RMV's homepage at Mass.Gov/RMV. Cancellation messages will also be on the RMV's phone line. 

Your road test may also be cancelled due to public school cancellations or delays at the discretion of the RMV. Your road test examiner may also cancel your test due to safety or scheduling concerns.

You may reschedule your road test at no cost if it was cancelled due to weather.
