More info

What your application status means

  • Saved as draft: You started your application but didn’t finish it. Submit it before the end of the day on Saturday of this week so you don’t have to start over.
  • Processing: DUA is reviewing your application. If you get a fact-finding request, be sure to respond quickly.
  • Pending: DUA is reviewing your application. If your application is pending for several weeks, it may be because DUA is:
    • Waiting on information from your former employer(s)
    • Verifying your identity or work history
    • Reviewing additional documents you submitted (if applicable)
    • Working to resolve an eligibility issue or appeal
  • Waiting for Response: DUA sent you a fact-finding request. You can sign in to your account to respond online or call (877) 626-6800.
  • In Progress: DUA is reviewing your information. You’ll get a notification once we make a decision.
  • Monetarily Eligible: You earned enough to qualify for benefits. If you disagree with the amount, log in to your account and visit the Action Center to file a wage correction.
  • Monetarily Ineligible: You haven’t earned enough to qualify for benefits. If you believe this is incorrect, log in to your account to file a wage correction.
  • Determined Eligible: We determined you do meet the eligibility requirements. You should continue to request weekly benefits.
  • Determined Ineligible: You do not meet the requirements to receive benefits. If you disagree, you can file an appeal.

Application processing times

Every application is unique, so processing times may vary. Most initial applications are processed in about 4 weeks.

What your claim status means

Weekly claims
  • Ready to Request Benefits: You can request benefits for the week. Log in to your account and select Request benefits.
  • Claim Closed: Your claim is closed because you didn’t request benefits for 3 weeks in a row. If you need benefits again, you can log in and reopen your claim.
  • Pending: We’re reviewing your claim for this week. You’ll receive a notification once we make a decision.
  • Processing: Your weekly claim is being reviewed. We’ll notify you if more info is needed.
  • Waiting Week: The first week that you file a claim is called a “Waiting Week.” You will not get paid that week. Your first payment will be for the second week you claim benefits.
Payments
  • Paid: Your benefit payment was sent, and it should appear in your debit card or direct deposit account shortly.
  • Payment in Progress: Your benefit payment is on the way. You should receive it within 2 business days.
  • Pending – Payment Returned: We tried to send your payment, but your bank returned it. Call (877) 626-6800 to update your direct deposit information.
  • Payment Returned: Your benefit payment was returned by your bank and cannot be reissued.
Eligibility
  • Denied: You didn’t meet the requirements for benefits for a certain week or for a longer period. If you disagree, you can file an appeal.
  • No Benefit: You’re either not eligible for benefits or have used all your benefits. If you disagree, you can file an appeal.
  • Excess Earnings: You earned too much money this week to qualify for benefits. If this was temporary income, you can submit a claim for the next week that you need benefits.
  • Overpayment: You received benefits for a week or weeks that DUA later determined you were not eligible to receive. You need to repay the benefits, request a waiver, or file an appeal.
  • Penalty Week: You received benefits for weeks that you worked, and you did not report that income. As a penalty, you won’t receive benefits for the same number of weeks. You must keep requesting benefits as long as you need them. Only weeks for which you certify will be subtracted from your penalty week balance. You can also file an appeal.
