The Details

What you need

You can create a TeleCert PIN over the phone.

You will need:

  • Your Social Security number (SSN)
  • Answers to the security questions that you created when you applied for unemployment

TeleCert PIN requirements

Your PIN should be a number you can remember, but it should not be easy to guess.

Your PIN can't be:

  • Associated with your birthday, phone number, address, or SSN
  • Consecutive numbers like 1234
  • Repetitive numbers like 1111

How to set up

Call the TeleCert PIN selection line anytime at (617) 626-6943.

Follow the prompts to complete your request:

  • Enter your SSN
  • Enter the first 4 letters of your security question answers using the telephone keys (security questions are created during the initial application for benefits):
    • For example, if the answer is Boston, enter 2678
    • Enter the PIN
    • Re-enter the PIN to confirm
  • When the system tells you your PIN is accepted, you can hang up

Next steps

  1. File your weekly unemployment claim

You need to file a claim every week that you want to receive benefits.

If you do this over the phone, you'll need your TeleCert PIN. You do not need the PIN to file your weekly claim online.

  2. Update your PIN if needed

If you ever forget your PIN or need to update it, call the TeleCert PIN selection line to change it.
