What you need

The Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) requires a MyMassGov login to access most individual myRMV online services.  

If you already have a MyMassGov Personal account, you'll need your email and password. If you don't, you'll need to create a new Personal account.

Log in to myRMV with MyMassGov

  1. Go to the myRMV Online Service Center.

  2. Choose the transaction you'd like to complete.

  3. If MyMassGov is required, you’ll be brought to the login page. 

  4. For individual transactions requiring MyMassGov, you'll need a Personal Account. Log in if you already have one or create a new Personal account.

    • If you need help creating an account, go to Mass.gov/mymassgovpersonal

    • If you have a MyMassGov Personal account and forgot your password, select the “Forgot password” link and follow the instructions

Verify your myRMV account

The first time you log in to myRMV using MyMassGov, you'll be taken back to myRMV, where you'll find information about what you need to continue.

  1. Select "Continue".
  2. You'll then be asked to complete the one-time step of verifying your identity by entering required information:
    • Date of birth
    • Last name
    • One of the following government ID's: Massachusetts license, permit, or ID number
    • One of the following: Last four digits of your Social Security number, your foreign passport number or Consular ID
  3. Check the "I'm not a robot" box and select "Submit".
  4. If you have a myRMV profile already, you'll be prompted to get a security code with the email, phone number, or authenticator app you set up in your myRMV account.
    • Enter the code and select "Confirm"
    • If you can't access the security code, you'll need to request a Letter ID online
  5. If you're using myRMV online services for the first time, you'll need the Letter ID given to you at the RMV Service Center or mailed to your address.
    • Enter your Letter ID, and select "Submit Letter ID"

Once your account is successfully verified, you'll get a "Success" message and can begin your transaction.
